Dear America,
Is alternative energy really the answer to all of America’s problems? Could relying on wind and solar power pull America out of this recession? The Obama administration certainly thought so, and we see where that has led. Large sums of American tax money has been thrown after the crumbling green energy company Solyndra. Many more “green” companies have been given tax breaks along with all sorts of incentives to succed, yet they really haven’t. Why is this? Why even after the Obama administration has crushed the opposing coal and oil companies? The answer is simple Americans are not stupid. Don’t get me wrong we all love this land and want to keep Amerca beautiful from “sea to shining sea”, but quite frankly liberals have gone way overboard with environmental regulation. The truth is to be totally relient on any form of energy green or otherwise is unwise. It would be comparable to being totally relient on carrots. What happens when a drought occurs and carrots do not grow for a season? Therefore, it is my belief that America should continue importing oil while the getting is good, but also drill ourselves. Continue to seek alternative energy sources, but only by private euntrepenuers, thus ensuring that only profitable alternative sources will be researched. Again I say the government most retract itself from American business, and let capitalism reign. If solar energy becomes profitable I promise it will become a major industry, yet if the solar power industry is unprofitable it is best that it is not a part of our economy. Therefore, let Solyndra be yet another lesson as to why government should have boundaries.
Sincerely,
Uncle Sam
